Monday 19 March: Freya Rodgers
Freya swim’s, cycles, runs and more. Currently in remission from cancer she’s had a go at all 41 Olympic sports open to women at Rio 2016. Impressed? Well if you want to find out more about this inspirational woman, you need to attend this meeting. You won’t be disappointed.
Monday 16 April: Chi Gong/Tai Chi with Aidan Spencer
Gi Gong is a holistic system of coordinated body posture and movement, breathing, and meditation used for health, spirituality, and martial arts training. Does this sound like you might need this in your life? We all need this form of relaxation in our frantic lives to stop us going completely mad. Let’s get Zen together!
Monday 21 May: AGM
This is your opportunity to join us on the committee as it’s the time we vote in the new Committee for the year. It’s also time to vote on our Resolutions for 2018 and we look forward to an informative discussion on both resolutions to help us make up our minds. To help us get through the AGM we like to feed and water our members who are happy to join us for the evening. A buffet and drinks will be provided for all to enjoy!

Monday 16 July: Life Drawing
This month we’re appealing to your artist and creative side of you all. We have Stephen Jakub a local artist and photographer who will be visiting our WI to teach us Life Drawing. Now don’t panic, no previous experience is required toparticpatein this class and I’ve been asked by Stephen to tell you there is no expectation of ability or quality of the final work- it’s about enjoying your time drawing. The materials we will be usingaredrawing boards, paper, pencils, charcoal, pastels and theall importantmodel which Stephen will provide for us. If you’ve never tried Life Drawing before then this is your opportunity – who knows there could be a Piscaso lurking deep within!

Monday 17 September: Bunting Making
We’re always super prepared for any eventuality and so when Duncan Barrett unfortunately had to cancel at the last-minute the Committee jumped to attention and decided we’d do an activitiy we’ve been meaning to do for sometime – bunting making! So we bought all the necessary equipment and fabrics and pulled together a craft evening for our members. After all it’s what the WI is all about – bunting and of course CAKE! We’re hoping Duncan will come to visit us early in the New Year.
Monday 15 October: Poppy Making with Shannon, Mockingbird Makes
It’s that time of year when we’ll be making our poppy wreaths to lay in Nunhead Cemetery on Remembrance Sunday. We’re so please to welcome back Shannon from Mockingbird Makes will return again this year to teach us how to make felt poppies.
Monday 19 November: Baker on Board
Time to don your aprons ladies and join us for a session with John Holland who has been baking for a few years, building up a strong repertoire of go-to cakes and treats that people have enjoyed quite a lot for birthdays, weddings and all sorts of other occasions. He currently works full-time, so this is a hobby (at the moment) but he’s getting more commissions for bespoke bakes. John said to get ready Nunhead WI for Festive Fondant Fun session, running through some super quick but effective decorating tips for cakes and biscuits in the run up to Christmas, achievable with what you have in the home kitchen, not necessarily one equipped with a ton of sugarcraft kit…
Monday 17 December: Christmas Party Time
We love Christmas at Nunhead WI and we also love a good party. We’ll be having our Christmas party at the Old Nun’s Head and all our members are invited to join us. Our Christmas Quiz is always popular and our Christmas raffle is stuffed full of great prizes. We will keep you posted on our plans for our party much nearer the time.
